Compression default of v5?
#1
Hello,

What is the default compression level since version 5?

When the stable version v5 was released, I uninstalled (and deleted the hasleo folder in program files) v4 to have the default compression level of v5. I saw that it should be low by default. I have medium by default with v5.

I made backups with medium level on several computers including old ones, it's okay for the processor and the time to complete the task.

The default compression level used by HBS V5 is low, if you have installed an earlier version of HBS, then V5 will use the compression level set by the earlier version. The default compression level is stored in the following registry value:
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Hasleo\Backup Suite\TaskDefaultCompressionLevel

Thanks, I'll monitor CPU usage and time, and adjust compression if needed. And if I'm not mistaken I have to make a new task after changing the compression level, and delete the old ones.
TaskDefaultCompressionLevel=value 2, so medium.

Yes, the default compression level only affects newly created backup tasks, and Hasleo Backup Suite does not support changing the compression level of existing backup tasks.

I'm not sure too.

When I create a new task under v5.0.2.2, it always DEFAULTs to LOW compression... this used to be MEDIUM under previous versions.

On a fresh v5 install, the above mentioned REGISTRY Key doesn't exist so the app DEFAULTs to LOW compression.  When that key is added manually with one of the following values, it becomes the new DEFAULT compression.

0=NONE
1=LOW
2-MEDIUM
3-HIGH
