Quick questions - esox07 - 01-16-2025 First time user of any Hasleo product. I just D/L v5.0.2.2 and am in the process of performing a backup of my system to an external HDD. My question is this: If my HDD totally fails or I am unable to boot to windows, how can I restore this backup? My computer did not come with a system disk or Windows 11 disk. RE: Quick questions - notko - 01-16-2025 Go to Tools. There you will find Emergency Disk creation. That can, for instance, be USB memory stick. the ED is bootable. When you boot from it, it starts automatically the Hasleo BS, then you restore your system from the backup you just made. RE: Quick questions - esox07 - 01-16-2025 notko: OK thanks. I will check into that. I appreciate the help. RE: Quick questions - admin - 01-16-2025 Yes, you can create a bootable WinPE media or add the restore environment of HBS to the Windows boot menu, so that you can perform the restore operation in the event of Windows operating system crash. RE: Quick questions - esox07 - 01-16-2025 Can someone tell me what size of a USB drive I need to hold the bootable WinPE media? WinPE is usually less than 1GB in size, so all you need is a USB drive with a capacity of no less than 1GB, so you shouldn't have to worry about that. RE: Quick questions - esox07 - 01-16-2025 Great, I have an old 2GB SD Card in a usb reader. I went through the process to create the emergency disk on it, but when I try to look at it with file manager, it is blank. However the "Properties" shows that about 370MB of it is used. So, I am guessing that it is "Hidden" on there. If so, that brings up another question. I created my backup on an external USB HDD. Could I make that my boot disk as well as my storage for my backups? RE: Quick questions - aldist - 01-16-2025 (01-16-2025, 09:37 PM)esox07 Wrote: If so, that brings up another question. I created my backup on an external USB HDD. Could I make that my boot disk as well as my storage for my backups? Yes, you can. Create a 1gB FAT32 partition on the USB disk. Mount Hasleo iso into a virtual drive. Copy the contents from the virtual drive to the partition you created. Your USB disk will now be bootable into Hasleo's WinPE environment. This works with Macrium Reflect, I have not tried it with Hasleo. RE: Quick questions - esox07 - 01-17-2025 OK another question from the experts in the cloud. I assume I need to change to boot device in my BIOS, however, I have not idea which choice I should make to boot to USB. Here is my boot choices. Which should I choose to get my computer to boot to my USB flash drive? https://imgur.com/a/PXZtn4X RE: Quick questions - admin - 01-17-2025 From the image you provided, it looks like you should choose to boot from UEFI: Multi Flash Reader 1.00. |
